What are the Pros and Cons of using acrylic glazing in the pool hall?
The older people reading this may not realise that Acrylic Glass is the modern word for "Perspex" that was used for all kinds of things in the 40's and 50's - including the cockpits of Spitfies and Hurricanes!
In most respects "acrylic" glass is superior to mineral glass including the following:
- It weighs less
- It is a better insulator
- It does not shatter on impact
- UV light transmission can be controlled (Mineral glass stops UV transmission entirely)
- The costs are much the same for the same thickness.
- So the only real drawback is that acrylic does scratch much easier than glass.
