Can I have roof lights over my indoor pool because I want as much natural light as possible?
There are quite a few problems involved in having roof lights over an indoor pool. These include:
- They complicate the roof structure and make it a lot more costly.
- They are not easy to clean when over the pool.
- They need a supply of warm dry air from the Air Handling Unit to avoid condensation and staining of the glazing or Acrylic sheets. This can be very difficult to arrange because it requires ducting from the AHU up into the roof.
- They need special treatment to avoid rainwater leakage.
- Most modern pool halls incorporate stretch ceilings for their appearance and vapour barrier qualities - it is very difficult to incorporate rooflights into a stretch ceiling installation.
